Sustainable and local textile, fashion and lifestyle in the spotlight at FaKtory Infini in Hangar K in Kortrijk

New event promotes co-creation within local circular fashion and textile industry

From 6 to 9 December, FaKtory Infini will be held for the first time in Hangar K in Kortrijk. The focus of this eco fashion & lifestyle event is on creating a local circular fashion and textile industry, and putting the spotlight on existing innovative and sustainable developments in the region. Through workshops, panel discussions and other activities, visitors are encouraged to share ideas about the textile and fashion industry of the future. At the same time, they can support the local economy and industry by buying sustainable textile, fashion and lifestyle products.

Co-creation and the revival of the local textile sector

FaKtory Infini aims to stimulate co-creation between local start-ups and established businesses in the field of sustainable textile production. In addition, the event will involve the entire chain –from raw materials suppliers via textile manufacturers to brands and retailers – in order to stimulate collaboration on new sustainability projects. Positive stories of existing innovations from the sustainable textile industry will also be shared with the general public. For instance, visitors will discover how the West Flemish European Spinning Group (ESG) plays an essential role in HNST’s production activity. The sustainable jeans label processes end-of-life jeans into fibres which ESG then spins into high-quality denim yarn for making new jeans.

FaKtory Infini is the brainchild of Niki De Schryver, Piet Verhoeve and Julie Lietaer. Niki is the founder of COSH, a digital tool that makes sustainable online shopping easier. Piet is CEO of Hangar K, a co-creation hub in Kortrijk for start-ups, growing businesses and established companies. Julie represents the third generation involved in the European Spinning Group, a Flemish family-run SME active in the production and distribution of textile yarn.

Initiators Niki, Piet and Julie talk about their expectations:

We’re inviting exhibitors, consultants and visitors from the entire chain to brainstorm, engage in circular innovation and set up surprising new partnerships together. We hope this will lead to many inspiring encounters and some great cross-fertilisation for existing and new sustainability projects.
